KENDALL, Fla. July 8 2017 - A 19-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for two incidents in which she pepper sprayed security guards at stores in Kendall, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, the first incident was reported April 1 at the Macy's store at Dadeland Mall on Southwest 88th Street.
Police said Keerra Nashay Dean attempted to enter an elevator at the store with loss prevention officers who had a suspect in custody.
The employees identified themselves as loss prevention officers to Dean and told her that she would not be allowed in the elevator with them, the arrest report said.
Police said Dean told them, "You all are just security," and then sprayed them with a can of mace after they once again told her they were loss prevention officers.
Police said Dean fled out of the side door of the department store. The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
A woman, believed to be Dean, was also captured on surveillance video June 16 at Forever's 21's even cheaper F21 RED store at The Palms at Town and Country on Mills Drive.
According to a second arrest report, Dean is a known shoplifter at the store and was spotted by an employee walking with two bags of suspected stolen merchandise.
The employee notified mall security and a security guard stationed himself at the store's exit.
Police said Dean pepper sprayed the man, causing him to close his eyes as she ran out of the store.
Dean faces charges of battery, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence. It's unclear whether she stole anything from either store.
