Food service worker arrested for sex crimes against inmates at Sedgwick County Jail

WICHITA, Kan.  July 30 2017
Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office says an employee of the contractor that provides food service to the jail has been arrested for sex crimes against two inmates.
Sheriff Jeff Easter said Friday afternoon that detectives arrested 30-year-old Timothy Kaneer earlier in the day. He was booked, and segregated, for two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of sexual battery and two counts of mistreatment of a confined person.
He's an employee of CBM Food Services.
Two inmates allege the incidents occurred in the jail between June 20 and July 16. Sheriff Easter said the inmates didn't want to report the alleged crimes because they didn't want to lose their work program privileges.
"They didn't want to lose their job," Easter said. ""It was to allow these inmates to learn how to do a job, receive a certificate for it, so they can get better placement when they're released."

Kaneer's case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office next week.
