Marietta GA April 29 2017 Police arrested an alleged Wal-Mart shoplifter Tuesday after officials said he pulled a knife on an officer before leading them on a chase in Cobb County that ended at Dobbins Air Reserve Base.
Marietta police were making two arrests for shoplifting about 11:30 a.m. at the Wal-Mart on Cobb Parkway when one of the suspects, Robert Killingsworth, allegedly pulled a knife and threatened the cop, Officer Chuck McPhilamy confirmed.
“The officer drew his firearm … and (the suspect) fled on foot to a pickup truck in the parking lot,” McPhilamy said.
Officers chased the 29-year-old Killingsworth to the exit ramp for South Cobb Drive, where the he lost control and crashed.
Capt. Meredith M. Kirchoff said Killingsworth entered Dobbins ARB about 12:45 p.m., leading to a 45-minute lockdown.
It is not known how he got onto the base. McPhilamy said no one was injured.
Killingsworth was taken to the Cobb County jail on aggravated assault, obstruction and shoplifting charges. Police charged a second person, Michelle Donaldson, 29, of Oakwood, with shoplifting. She is also in the Cobb County jail.
