Grand Junction police charge woman with assaulting hospital staff, security

Police were notified of an assault and a woman being disorderly at the hospital Sunday and officers responded to assist security personnel.
The woman who was a patient at St. Mary’s Hospital was arrested for alleged second-degree assault on an officer Sunday.
Renae Rae Waltz, 49, was arrested after staff at the hospital reported she was “swinging and kicking at medical staff,” according to her arrest affidavit.
A security guard officer she used a closed fist to punch him in the jaw when he entered her room to assist staff.
The police report did not indicate why the woman was being combative.
