Little Rock officer fatally shoots man during robbery try at shopping center

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Feb 25 2017- An off-duty police officer working as a security officer became the victim of an armed robbery and shot and killed one of his assailants according to a press release.
Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner says an off-duty Little Rock officer in uniform was working a security detail at the Arkansas Revenue office.
Multiple sources tell us she was carrying money bags to her car when the robbery attempt happened. Chief Buckner calls the incident brazen.
The suspect pulled up behind the officer’s vehicle and approached the officer with a firearm.
There was an exchange of gunfire with the officer and the officer shot and killed one of the robbery suspects but police are also seeking two others.
Many people at the shopping center Saturday knew about the shooting.
"If they knew it was a cop they were robbing that's really brave and absolutely ridiculous," says Jenna Adcock. Maybe they thought that he was a security guard.
There were customers inside a nearby grocery store. The owner says his business went into lockdown.
"We heard four to five gunshots. We ran to the door and closed the door," says the grocery store owner.
Lambs said after the shooting she saw a security guard hugging the police officer.
"She [security guard] got out and ran towards the female officer that shot the individual and the officer was crying," says Lambs.
The officer was not injured. The suspect's name has not been released.
Little Rock Police Spokesperson Lt. Steven McClanahan says more details will be released Monday.

In 1993, Little Rock police officer Henry Callanen was carrying money bags after working a security detail. He was shot and killed during the robbery.
