Va. Security Officer Shoots-Kills Man During Confrontation

Police are still investigating the shooting death of a 60-year-old man who died last night half a mile away from his home in the River Walk neighborhood.
Investigators say that police responded to a shooting and found Jiansheng Chen, 60, with gunshot wounds just after 11 p.m. Thursday.
He died at the scene in the 700 block of River Walk Pkwy. off Great Bridge Boulevard.
Police say Chen was seated in his minivan in the River Walk clubhouse parking lot when a security guard confronted him. They argued, and police say the security guard fired a gun.
The River Walk Community Association has contracted with a security company to provide unarmed security guards since 2010, said spokesman Billy Rudolph.
The association's board said in a statement the contract is for "unarmed roving patrol services for the common areas of the community" not including the clubhouse where Chen was shot.
The contract also did not include armed security officers.
"We are fully cooperating with authorities investigating the incident that took place just outside association property," board members said in the statement.
Chen lived in the 800 block of Hardwood Dr., police said.
No one has been charged in the incident, said police spokeswoman Kelly Elliott.
