Security officers do not escape violence during New Year's Eve celebrations

Jan 2 2017

News reports are beginning to come into our office and we now know that the security industry did not escape their New Year’s Eve assignments without violent confrontations, gunshots and death.
We have confirmed that security officers in California, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania and Alabama have all been involved in deadly force incidents including at least three security officers shot and another who shot and killed his attacker.
Philadelphia police report that security officers were protecting a Port Richmond bar when they were engaged in a confrontation with a man who tried to push his way back into the bar after it had closed.
The man then attacked a security officer at the Crazy Leprechaun bar on Richmond Street at around 2:15 a.m.
During the confrontation another man hit the security officer twice in the head with the “Club” , a steering wheel anti-theft locking device, and that’s when a second security officer shot the attacker several times and he later died.
The security officer was treated for a collapsed lung.
Police say that they have not charged the security officer at this time.

Council Bluffs police also report that a nightclub security officer there was shot in the back there during a fight involving at least twenty people and that he was taken to a hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive.
