Pompano Beach man charged in armed robbery of security officer

BOCA RATON FL Jan 30 2017
A Pompano Beach man is accused of robbing a security guard at a gated west Boca Raton community early Jan. 10, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records indicate.
Surveillance footage shows Rodney Estelhomme, 30, and another, unidentified man, pull up to the gate at Island Lakes Community, off Glades Road, in a silver BMW.
Video shows Estelhomme point a gun at the guard. The guard knew Estelhomme, she told deputies.
He demanded she open the door to the guardhouse, but she refused, according to sheriff’s office records.
Estelhomme kicked down the door, records indicate, and broke the door frame.
The guard told deputies Estelhomme pushed her against a bathroom door and took her purse, keys and two cellphones. He then left and walked toward her car.
Surveillance footage doesn’t capture the full incident because Estelhomme blocks a camera with his jacket for several minutes, the sheriff’s office said.
Another camera, however, shows Estelhomme walk back from the woman’s car and throw the items he took in the guardhouse. Estelhomme then jumps in the passenger seat of the BMW and leaves with the other man.

Estelhomme was arrested on armed burglary, armed robbery and aggravated assault charges Jan. 14. He is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail until his next court appearance, scheduled for Feb. 13, according to court records.
