New York City NY Jan 2 2017 This new New Year’s tradition ended in a bust.
Cops cuffed a drugged-out psycho who tried to steal the firearms from three cops protecting New Year’s Eve revelers at Times Square, officials said Sunday.
Scott Zaleski appeared mentally unstable and was high on drugs when he ran up to two cops on 36th St. and Broadway about 1:30 a.m. as scores of partiers ended their festivities at the windows of the world.
Zaleski allegedly tried to take the guns from the cops’ holsters, officials said.
When cops blocked him from doing so he ran off — only to jump another cop standing about a block away, officials said.
Cops ultimately wrestled Zaleski to the ground and took him into custody.
He kicked at least one cop in the right shoulder as he was being brought to an awaiting squad car, which took him to Bellevue Hospital for a psychological evaluation.
Cops charged him with attempted robbery and assault. His arraignment was pending.
