Las Vegas security officer shot by suspicious person

Las Vegas NV Jan 4 2017 An unarmed security guard was several times Monday night while patrolling a neighborhood in the northwest valley, according to Metro Police.
The shooting occurred late Monday night at Copper Palms Apartments on the 1100 block of North Buffalo Drive north of Summerlin Parkway.
The 60-year-old man was walking through the neighborhood in the 1100 block of North Buffalo Drive, near Washington Avenue, about 11 p.m. when he saw a 20- to 25-year-old man leaning against a wall, according to police.
When the security guard asked the man if he lived in the neighborhood, the man pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at the security guard, police said.
The security guard was wounded in his arm and back.
One shot hit the guard in the shoulder. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition, police said.

The shooter fled the area and has not been captured, police said.
The security guard is recovering at UMC Hospital and is doing well. CPS Security released a statement Tuesday afternoon:
"We are pleased to report that our officer is recovering and ask for his privacy to be respected at this time. Donations to assist the officer after he is released from the hospital are welcome."
