Austin security officer shoots man in the head during robbery threat

AUSTIN TX Dec 19 2016 A confrontation at a nightclub has left a man in critical condition after a security officer shot him in the head.
The man critically injured outside of a North Austin nightclub late Saturday night had been involved in some type of altercation when security threw some customers out of the nightclub.
Police said that they received a call of a fight at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Yellow Rose nightclub on North Lamar Boulevard.
Police said after customers were forced to leave the bar a fight occurred and a security guard shot the customer, hitting him in the head.
Authorities said the victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to University Medical Center-Brackenridge.
Yellow Rose president Jon Persinger said that the customer who had been shot was planning to rob another patron and had threatened to shoot club employees. Persinger said the victim grabbed a weapon from his car and loaded it, and that the parking lot security guard then shot the man.
Persinger called the shooting self-defense, and said that the club turned over video of the incident to police.

Police meanwhile are still investigating and have not released the names of the person shot or the security guard.
