Virginia security officer shot to death

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting early this morning and found a security officer shot to death.
Both directions of George Washington Memorial Highway were shut down from Coventry Boulevard to the Newport News city line while police searched for the homicide suspect, sheriff's office spokesman Dennis Ivey said this morning.
The fatal shooting that killed private security officer Richard Irvin occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the County Grill & Smokehouse in the 1200 block of George Washington Memorial Highway, police said.
Irvin was escorting a man from a tent party in the parking lot of the business when the man turned around and shot him, Ivey said.
The 42-year-old died from him injuries. The suspect fled, Ivey said.
The sheriff’s department now states that Coleston Ryan Lewis is wanted for murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with this shooting.
