Butler County PA Nov 12 2016 A western Pennsylvania woman was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly shot up heroin in a bathroom stall at a Target, then injured a cop as she tried to run out of the store.
Tanya Lynn Tyson, 25, was charged in Butler County with felony aggravated assault; misdemeanor drug, theft, and resisting-arrest charges; and a summary charge of public drunkenness and similar misconduct.
Tyson, of Butler, was arrested Saturday at the Target store in the Butler Commons shopping plaza. When she entered the store at about 1:30 p.m., she was allegedly under the influence and was seen walking around and taking a bag of candy into the women's restroom, according to a Butler Township Police Department news release.
The store's security staff followed her into the restroom, where she "scattered the candy in the restroom and was making undiscernible noises in a stall," the release says. Tyson had swiped a bag of Sixlets candy-coated chocolate flavored candies before going into the bathroom, the Butler Eagle reported.
The police statement says that after officers arrived to the store, police "found Tyson shooting heroin in the stall." She bolted out of the stall and ran for the store's exit, and in the process, a police officer "was knocked over into metal dividers in the store near the doors" and was "bruised in the scuffle," the Eagle reported.
After "a brief struggle," in which she "caused minor injury to an officer," Tyson was put in cuffs, the report says.
She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a possible drug overdose, then was placed in the Butler County Prison, where she remained Wednesday afternoon, unable to post bail, which was set at $25,000.
