FAIRFIELD OH Nov 24 2016
A Fairfield High School teacher is facing criminal charges for alleged sexual activity with a student, according to police and prosecutors.
Tyler M. Conrad, 26, of Victor Court in Hamilton, was indicted Tuesday by a Butler County grand jury on two counts of sexual battery, a third-degree felony; sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor; and contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The investigation began when Fairfield police were contacted by Butler County Children Services about possible illegal activity between a Fairfield High School teacher and student. Police opened an investigation, advised school administrators of the allegations, and evidence was presented to a grand jury for consideration, according to police.
The alleged activity happened between Conrad and a 16-year-old female student between Aug. 16 and Oct. 9, according to the indictment.
Conrad was hired by Fairfield schools on Aug. 6, 2015. He was an assistant football coach from August 2015 until this year, according to school officials.
Conrad was placed on administrative leave by the district on Oct. 13, according to school officials.
“Our district was made aware of the allegations and criminal investigation by the Fairfield Police Department, and the district cooperated fully with the Fairfield Police Department,” Superintendent Billy Smith said. “Once the district was made aware of the allegations and criminal investigation, the teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave. He will stay on administrative leave pending board consideration of the matter on Nov. 30.”

Conrad is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court.
