Memphis TN Oct 21 2016 A Memphis man is set to be arraigned Thursday for a shooting outside a nightclub in the airport area. Maurice Steele is charged with unlawfully possessing a weapons, and impersonating a licensed professional.
It all started about 1:35 a.m. Wednesday morning at Pure Passion on East Brooke Road. A security guard told investigators he was inside when he heard shots outside the club. The guard said he saw the victim shooting across the parking lot. He said he saw that same man get shot, and taken to Regional One in a private vehicle.
The victim told officers he was walking out of the club when he was shot in his leg. He is in non-critical condition.
Police say another security guard, Maurice Steele, told officers that he may have shot the victim or another shooter. Police say Steele admitted he does not have a carry permit and his security license is expired. Investigators say Steele was armed with a Glock and AM-15 rifle. They also found several shell casings at the scene.
Steele is out of jail on $2,500 bond.
