<p class="MsoNormal"><b>San Francisco CA March 18 2024</b> The family of a man
fatally shot by a security guard in a San Francisco Walgreens last month during
an apparent shoplifting altercation has filed a $25 million wrongful death
lawsuit.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Banko Brown, 24, died on April 27 following an altercation
with the guard, police said. The guard, 33-year-old Michael Earl-Wayne Anthony,
has not been charged in the shooting.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Attorneys for Banko's parents announced Friday they have
filed a civil lawsuit in San Francisco Superior Court against Walgreens,
Anthony and Kingdom Group Protective Services, which provides security for
Walgreens and employs Anthony.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"Deadly force was not the way to handle this,"
civil rights attorney John Burris told reporters during a Friday press
briefing, calling it a "petty theft situation."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"You're talking about taking a person's life in
connection with $15, $14," Burris said.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The lawsuit claims that Walgreens and Kingdom Group
Protective Services have encouraged their armed security officers to use force
to detain suspected shoplifters.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"Walgreens is responsible," Burris said.
"It's Banko's blood that's on their heart and on their conscious and on
their hands."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A Walgreens spokesperson told ABC News they are not
commenting on the lawsuit. ABC News has reached out to Kingdom Group Protective
Services.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A Walgreens spokesperson previously told ABC News: "We
are offering condolences to the victim's family during this difficult time. The
safety of our patients, customers and team members is our top priority, and
violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our stores."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A spokesperson for Kingdom Group Protective Services told
ABC News previously that it is "fully cooperating with law enforcement in
the investigation of this extremely unfortunate incident and are deeply
saddened by the loss of Banko Brown’s life. At this time, we are not permitted
to comment further."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The incident took place at a Walgreens in downtown San
Francisco on April 27 just after 6:30 p.m. PT, according to the police report.
The surveillance video, which does not have sound, purportedly shows Brown
attempting to leave the store without paying for a bag full of items. The
on-duty and lawfully armed security guard, Anthony, stops Brown then the two
engage in a struggle. The two struggle for less than a minute until Anthony
pins Brown to the ground, as shoppers continue to enter and exit the store.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The video then purportedly shows Anthony letting go of
Brown, who picks up the bag and heads for the exit. Brown turns around and
walks backward out the door then appears to step toward Anthony. Anthony lifts
his gun and fires a single shot, striking Brown in the chest. Brown falls to
the ground just outside the store.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In an interview with police, Anthony said he told Brown to
"put the items back" but that Brown "refused" and was
"aggressive." Anthony said he went to take the items but that Brown
fought to keep them and repeatedly threatened to stab him as a struggle ensued.
Police said a knife was not found on Brown.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Attorneys for Brown's family also pushed back against claims
that Brown threatened to stab the guard, saying Friday that witnesses have not
corroborated that.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Brown, who struggled with homelessness, worked as a
community organizer for the Young Women's Freedom Center, a San Francisco-based
nonprofit that provides support for young women and transgender youth across
California.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In seeking at least $25 million in damages, Burris said they
want the lawsuit to send a message that "the value of a human life cannot
be diminished because of their station in life, who they are."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"This was a young person, 24 years old, whose life was
taken unnecessarily so," Burris said.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The San Francisco District Attorney's Office declined to
file criminal charges against the security guard, citing insufficient evidence
that Anthony was not acting in lawful self-defense.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">California Attorney General Rob Bonta this week agreed to
review the district attorney's office's decision this week to see whether it
was an "abuse of discretion," ABC San Francisco station KGO reported.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Brown's parents are calling for murder charges against the
guard.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"I would like him to go to prison for life,"
Brown's mother, Kevinisha Henderson, told "Good Morning America."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Brown's funeral service was held Thursday, a month after he
was killed.<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-73176971006509085392024-03-18T06:51:00.002-04:002024-03-18T06:51:23.052-04:00Nashville security officer shot to death during car burglary incident <p><b> </b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbXLJaophhJlMUzmEajdkwE6OYrg_VjDeEVALxae6RKlq_kcf_pGi9K9V20eU2XW5_ae6UsgMVIsujld0-tvm_LFaRdKU4FcE7MkoUXlPiktVGX1O2vFO-jDNf7IrR9WXEexaFCSUJR_li5TxaNwX11oMoPxvRIl3IgPbAwpkHCfK7qxlDMcftofeKAeKX/s300/Z40a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="133" data-original-width="300" height="133" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbXLJaophhJlMUzmEajdkwE6OYrg_VjDeEVALxae6RKlq_kcf_pGi9K9V20eU2XW5_ae6UsgMVIsujld0-tvm_LFaRdKU4FcE7MkoUXlPiktVGX1O2vFO-jDNf7IrR9WXEexaFCSUJR_li5TxaNwX11oMoPxvRIl3IgPbAwpkHCfK7qxlDMcftofeKAeKX/s1600/Z40a.jpeg" width="300" /></a></b></div><b><br /></b><p></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 16, 2024</b>— A man has been
sentenced for the murder and armed carjacking of a security guard. Desmond
Mbah, 27, was sentenced to life on Friday for murdering Riyadh Al Janabi a
little over three years ago.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">When handing down the sentence, the judge called Mbah’s
crime “calculated and deliberate” and said his sentence was just and fair.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In February 2021, Mbah went to an apartment complex in
Riverdale, Maryland, where Al Janabi was on duty as a security guard. He was
sitting in his car when suddenly, Mbah ambushed him and shot into the car,
hitting him twice in the face. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Mbah then fled the scene in Al Janabi’s car. When police
arrived at the apartment complex, they found Al Janabi lying on the pavement.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“This was a very disturbing crime,” said State’s Attorney
Aisha Braveboy. “I am certain Mr. Al Janabi expected to return home after his
shift, but that didn’t happen because Mr. Mbah heartlessly decided to take his
life for no reason. In light of that, I believe this sentence is most
appropriate and I want to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel Kim for
fighting to ensure justice was secured for this victim and his family.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Mbah was sentenced to life for first-degree murder, 25 years
for armed carjacking, and 20 years for the use of a firearm in a crime of
violence.<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-4839425200941348772024-03-16T11:12:00.001-04:002024-03-16T11:12:06.994-04:00Houston Zoo parking dispute ends with security guard shooting woman who ran into him with her car<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwo8byk0HccXg1W5500S3Ik-18y6LhT1u4HBfgNLVkN0HUmoUIJklSkbAFb_UnDB6OAkndb28Ln5KtAqDlR2cGu91hXRZDjSlNfaoNebIdoipxX-jwtP-bxPZzsnhFwXHWaQK5kGU-bbawZowSYccPaN7PhzX35N7z5Cua8vkIeMtfcCaaTVTCy6eyu61/s300/Z30.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="168" data-original-width="300" height="168" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwo8byk0HccXg1W5500S3Ik-18y6LhT1u4HBfgNLVkN0HUmoUIJklSkbAFb_UnDB6OAkndb28Ln5KtAqDlR2cGu91hXRZDjSlNfaoNebIdoipxX-jwtP-bxPZzsnhFwXHWaQK5kGU-bbawZowSYccPaN7PhzX35N7z5Cua8vkIeMtfcCaaTVTCy6eyu61/s1600/Z30.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><b><br /></b><p></p><p><b>HOUSTON TX March 16 2024</b> – An armed security guard

themselves SafeBears have raised $40,000 to pay for security guards or
"safety ambassadors" to patrol the UC Berkeley campus area for a few
weeks in early March.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">UC Berkeley may be one of America’s most prestigious
schools, but its location in the California Bay Area has parents and students
both wary of safety on campus. A group called SafeBears, that touts itself as
comprising "1,300+ Cal parents and community allies working to improve
safety for UC Berkeley students," has worked to solve the problem
themselves, hoping their prototypical program of patrols around campus will
inspire the college to take more action themselves.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The SafeBears website declares that "Cal parents raised
over $40,000 to conduct a private security pilot program around UC
Berkeley" that was "inspired by USC’s Safety Ambassadors
program." These privately hired security guards have been patrolling the
campus area from 6:30 p.m. at night to 3 a.m. starting on March 6, but will
only continue to do so until March 23.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The organization of parents cited a litany of local issues
and incidents making the case that students are in dire need of more protection
on campus, ranging from citing an "armed robbery spree" to a pattern
of trespassing incidents, such as when "a convicted felon made his way to
a sixth floor shower in a first-year residence hall before being arrested by
UCPD." All the while, SafeBears noted that the Berkeley Police Department
is "in the midst of a staffing crisis."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">SafeBears president Sagar Jethani, who has twin sons at
Berkeley, voiced his frustration to CBS News arguing the college has not taken
enough action to protect students themselves, "The fact is if they're not
going to act, despite repeated pleas from parents and students to take more
substantial action, then we're going to act."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He added further, "We want to, frankly, turn up the
heat with the administration. We want to show that we're not content to just
wait forever to have these safety ambassadors deployed."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The pilot program of these patrols by hired security will
reportedly only last until March 23, after which time parents reportedly hope
the university will take over.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A spokesperson from UC Berkeley raised concerns about the
effort to Fox News Digital and noted the campus' own efforts to keep people
safe.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"Hiring private security raises a number of concerns
including the training and experience of individuals hired by such firms,"
the spokesperson warned. "Further, any security effort on the campus must
be coordinated with UCPD, independent of the funding source."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The spokesperson contested that funding can best be used in
other ways.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"We believe that university funds are better spent
hiring more sworn or non-sworn UCPD officers for standard daily response
efforts. Parents who want to donate funds toward additional campus security can
do so via a university fund that has been established," the spokesperson
wrote, "We do not believe that private security should take precedence
over hiring sworn officers. In addition, a holistic approach to campus safety
is required and is the most effective approach."<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Numerous new efforts from the school administration were
mentioned as well. One such initiative was "Increased security
efforts" including "key card access to buildings, surveillance
cameras, and dedicated on-site staff." Another was the "Increased
staffing of Community Service Officers" or "CSOs" which are
trained students employed by the UCPD. The spokesperson elaborated that
"Early in the fall semester we had 58 CSOs, next week we will be up to 90,
and we are planning to increase staffing to at least 100 Community Service
Officers." <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">All of this is in addition to Berkeley's ongoing efforts,
such as night safety services and student safety education.<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-89436058751552033842024-03-15T07:20:00.002-04:002024-03-15T07:20:07.694-04:00 Man sentenced to prison for causing death of Dayton security guard <p> <b>Dayton Ohio March 15th, 2024</b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A Dayton man will spend up to a dozen years of prison for
the “sucker-punch” death of a security guard nearly two years ago at Setters
Volleyball Club in Dayton.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Antonio Tarag Deante Jackson Fountain, 37, was sentenced
Wednesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court to eight to 12 years after he
pleaded guilty Jan. 18 to involuntary manslaughter via a bill of information.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Fountain was accused of striking 60-year-old Ronnie “Joe”
Brown on April 22, 2022, from behind, causing him to fall to the ground and hit
his head on the pavement. Brown died of his injuries two days later at Miami
Valley Hospital.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Dayton police were called to the club at 108 Gateway Drive
on a report of a fight. When they arrived they found Brown unconscious on the
ground outside Setters.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“The victim was in the parking lot trying to alleviate
growing tension between a small group of men and other patrons of the club,”
the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Surveillance video showed Fountain “sucker-punch” Brown in
the head, according to the prosecutor’s office.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Fountain also was ordered to pay restitution for funeral and

<p class="MsoNormal">A 17-year-old girl has filed a lawsuit against an Emeryville
high school security guard for allegedly sexually assaulting her, as well as
the district that employed him — saying they failed to take steps that could
have protected her. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to the lawsuit, which was filed Thursday morning
in Alameda County Superior Court, employees at Emery High School failed to
discipline or properly supervise the security guard, even after becoming aware
of alleged instances of sexual misconduct with other female students. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The former security guard was named in the lawsuit as Daniel
Parham, 21. He was arrested in November 2023 by Alameda Police and charged with
statutory rape and for sexual assaulting the young girl on school grounds, the
lawsuit detailed.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Parham, who is not in custody, was arraigned on Jan. 9 in
Alameda County Superior Court. A pre-trial hearing for his case is scheduled
for April 23. It is unclear how long Parham worked for the district.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Spokespersons for Emery Unified School District and Emery
High School did not immediately return requests for comment.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The complaint identified two named defendants — Parham and
the school district — but could be expanded to include other school employees
who may have known about the assaults, said attorney Mark Boskovich, who is
representing the victim. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The lawsuit alleges that Parham used his position of trust
and authority to groom the main plaintiff as she began her senior year at Emery
High School in September 2023.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Starting in the fall, Parham allegedly touched the girl’s
waist, thighs, and buttocks on school grounds, giving her compliments and
discussing “intimate topics” with her over electronic communications.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“After gaining (her) trust,” Parham is accused of sexually
assaulting her on school grounds on at least three occasions from late October
through early November. Those assaults allegedly took place behind closed or
locked doors in the senior center study room, a lab room, and a gym teacher’s
office, according to the lawsuit.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In those locations, Parham is accused of groping parts of
her body, digitally penetrating the victim’s private areas, forcing her to
orally copulate him and raping her, according to the complaint.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">During one of those encounters, Parham and the victim were
allegedly inside a dark locker room when a basketball coach for the high school
walked in and asked Parham what he was doing. Parham had told the victim to
hide, and joked to the coach that he was “masturbating and taking a nap in the
office,” the lawsuit alleges.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to the complaint, the basketball coach did not
investigate any further and did not report what he had witnessed.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Later, the girl allegedly told an employee at the Emeryville
Center of Community Life pool, where she worked, that she was concerned about
being pregnant, and that the person who may have impregnated her was older than
her and worked for the school, the lawsuit alleges.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to the lawsuit, this employee surmised that Parham
was the culprit, and told the plaintiff that another female student had
notified him that she had also been
touched by Parham. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The lawsuit alleges that Parham may have sexually assaulted
at least one other female student on school grounds.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">After that disclosure, the employee allegedly reported the
incident and Parham was arrested.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The lawsuit is seeking monetary damages for the “emotional
pain and suffering” the victim suffered as a result of the encounters, said
Boskovich.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Though the victim was not impregnated, Boskovich said his
client feels “very upset and enraged” that someone could have done this to her.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“She felt like she was completely manipulated and taken
advantage of,” he said. <o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-22498931006433232092024-03-15T07:08:00.000-04:002024-03-15T07:08:09.058-04:00High school student arrested for violent attack on Orange County Ca. security guard<p> <b>Orange County CA March 15 2024</b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old high school student
in connection with the violent attack and assault on a security guard at an
upscale community in Orange County, officials confirmed to KTLA.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Aidan Grogan, 18, was arrested Thursday at Yorba Linda High
School at around 12 p.m., according to officials with the Orange County
Sheriff’s Department.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The incident at East Lake Village in Yorba Linda occurred at
around 9 p.m. on March 3, according to a post in a private social media group
obtained by KTLA’s Shelby Nelson.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to the post, security cameras captured the parking
lot attack on the security guard, who had asked the suspects to leave because
they were fishing after dark.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“The severity of the attack, which included a headlock that
rendered the security guard unconscious, indicates that at least one of the
boys has some kind of training,” the post reads.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">While it’s unclear just how many attackers there were, the
suspects were described as males between the age of 16-17, one of whom had
shaggy blonde hair and another who was filming the attack on his cellphone.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Some residents of the upscale community said they were upset
management did not tell them about the alleged assault.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">KTLA reached out to the general manager of the community,
but they would only provide minimal details, saying that it was reported to
authorities and that the guard is expected to be okay, though no information
about the extent of guard’s injuries was provided.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Nude photo scandal rocks another Southern California school<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">At that time, officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s
Department confirmed they were investigating the alleged assault, and that it
was reported March 6, two days after the incident occurred.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So far, authorities have not said whether there have been
any additional arrests beyond the 18-year-old who was booked at the Orange
County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-91264907899605946152024-03-15T06:55:00.002-04:002024-03-15T06:55:31.786-04:00Man kidnaps La. deputy during traffic stop<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJOK0zD5aFbHO3aqqnv61sasi1bl2zZ4ZqZ8M6Q9SvpzNw87RiygLgZlquOqGg5v4HWacXOssllPwDjjgx97u2P3rLOVJmekBtOsY95OtWar6RTc6F0nZEUM3Pd-Dkv7Cfvz0AdZba3-vxqWWodoHu3rsWKw27t5cBiFmWXK6Jzb3ETJqlMiMcWP9h0FeE/s225/Z35.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="225" data-original-width="225" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJOK0zD5aFbHO3aqqnv61sasi1bl2zZ4ZqZ8M6Q9SvpzNw87RiygLgZlquOqGg5v4HWacXOssllPwDjjgx97u2P3rLOVJmekBtOsY95OtWar6RTc6F0nZEUM3Pd-Dkv7Cfvz0AdZba3-vxqWWodoHu3rsWKw27t5cBiFmWXK6Jzb3ETJqlMiMcWP9h0FeE/s1600/Z35.jpeg" width="225" /></a></div><br /><b><br /></b><p></p><p><b>CALCASIEU PARISH, La. a physical fight during one of the class periods on March 13.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The incident began when the safety monitor entered the

authorities are cracking down on what they call “ghost cars,” or vehicles using
altered or forged license plates to avoid paying tolls and tickets.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A multiagency effort to catch them on Monday resulted in
resulted in 73 vehicles impounded, 282 summonses issued and eight arrests, Gov.
Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and law enforcement officials
announced Tuesday.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Officials said it was the first effort by a new state and
city task force that will be enforcing license plate requirements.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Monday’s operation involved some 150 officers using license
plate reader technology, visual inspections and other methods to spot fake
plates along three river crossings entering Manhattan: the Robert F. Kennedy
Bridge linking three New York City boroughs, and the George Washington Bridge
and the Lincoln Tunnel, which connect with New Jersey.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“Today the Ghostbusters have arrived,” Hochul, a Democrat,
said at a news conference at the RFK Bridge. “We’re going after the ghost
vehicles. The gig is up.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Toll dodging costs the region’s transit system an estimated
$50 million annually that could be invested into modernizing subways and public
buses, said Janno Lieber, CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“That’s your money they’re taking,” he said. “That’s tax
money.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Police have seen a clear connection between the illegal
vehicles and violent crime, Adams said. Vehicles bearing fraudulent or modified
license plates -- or no tags at all -- are often unregistered, uninsured or
stolen, he said. That makes it challenging to track down vehicles and their
owners when they’re involved in hit-and-runs, robberies, shootings and other
crimes.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Some criminals even carry multiple sets of plates and switch
them out to avoid detection, according to the mayor.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“These ‘ghost vehicles’ are a menace to our roadways,” Adams
said. “We don’t know who they are. They disappear into the night.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">To be sure, forging or altering license plates isn’t new,
said New York Police Department Commissioner Edward Caban.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">But the city saw an influx of them during the pandemic, with
people purchasing fake plates online that appear as though they were issued by
out-of-state dealerships.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Caban said violators also use spray paint, tape and other
materials to obscure or alter license plate numbers and letters. Still others
purchase devices that can be activated by a driver to cover the plate just as
their vehicle enters a toll zone, rendering the plate unreadable by fare system
technology.<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-88178821388023958572024-03-14T07:35:00.001-04:002024-03-14T07:35:32.930-04:00 Former Bricktown security guard seeks justice after shooting injuries<p> <b>OKLAHOMA CITY OK March 14 2024</b> A former Bricktown
security guard says he’s sustained life-changing injuries after being shot back
in 2021.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The shooting happened in the early hours of the morning of
Nov. 7 while Richard Luman was working security for Brickopolis.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Oklahoma City Police told News 4 at the time that a fight
broke out near the venue and that it led to an exchange of gunfire between
Leontaz Bethany and an unknown suspect.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Luman said one of the bullets fired in the shooting hit him
in the chest.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“I didn’t know what was going on,” said Luman. “Then all of
a sudden I got hit and it was, it was pretty terrifying.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Luman described his experience in a 2021 affidavit that led
to Bethany’s arrest. He said he saw a male wearing dark clothing jump out of
some bushes, heard the gunfire and then felt a sharp pain in his chest where he
was shot. He also told police at the time he believed that suspect had shot
him.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Police were able to use that information, along with a
cellphone registered to Bethany, found by a bystander at the scene to issue the
affidavit for his arrest. Court documents say he entered a guilty plea for
assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">News 4 confirmed with police Tuesday that no additional
arrests have been made since.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“With the psychological damage and stuff like that, it’s
been, it’s been pretty rough,” said Luman. “Even a couple of weeks ago, I was
with the family, with my wife and daughter. We’re at a CVS, and someone’s car
backfired, and I, I freaked out.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Luman said as much as he’s tried to find closure, there are
constant reminders in his daily routine.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“They just said that [the bullet] bounced around and in my
insides, hit my liver,” said Luman.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Luman said he struggles with sleeping more than a few hours
a day due to constant pain, he has to walk with a cane and his back and legs
are permanently damaged. He’s also dealing with other medical issues.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“If I don’t urinate really quickly, then I will start
projectile vomiting everywhere,” said Luman.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">News 4 asked Luman if he had anything to say to the person
or people still out there, connected to the incident that haven’t been
arrested.<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-26755746603157749492024-03-14T07:35:00.000-04:002024-03-14T07:35:28.268-04:00Man sentenced to 20 years for fatally attacking security guard<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXINWfE8L4Oyb2vsUIuT9KbhpIC_2G5Xy9TjOqMLqZsUjn3e6_hqGRyvYO5rv2xLHCrjW7QY_6D5TidX4A4QMRWUXvitRRDolpLPOvTZB6AmDmjZr0JHr_RXtSTEVmp8lSPPHRrgPkWYOABHuCu_Z5novW6cI3Twoq09unvyF0T9DlHdcyC0E0a6sGxTVv/s318/Z35.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="159" data-original-width="318" height="159" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXINWfE8L4Oyb2vsUIuT9KbhpIC_2G5Xy9TjOqMLqZsUjn3e6_hqGRyvYO5rv2xLHCrjW7QY_6D5TidX4A4QMRWUXvitRRDolpLPOvTZB6AmDmjZr0JHr_RXtSTEVmp8lSPPHRrgPkWYOABHuCu_Z5novW6cI3Twoq09unvyF0T9DlHdcyC0E0a6sGxTVv/s1600/Z35.jpeg" width="318" /></a></div><br /><p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>PROVIDENCE, R.I. March 13, 2024 </b>Several students at Providence
College in Providence, Rhode Island, recently came together to give their
building’s security guard the gift of a lifetime.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“It just incredible to see how fast God works, especially in
our community,” Brandon Reichert said. “We never thought that number would be
possible.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Reichert, a PC freshman, told NewsNation’s WPRI he was moved
to create a GoFundMe page for their residential building’s overnight security
guard James, who had told him he hadn’t visited his family in Nigeria in more
than a decade.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The money raised was put toward sending James, who’s also
known as “Unc,” on a trip home, according to Reichert. He said James has become
a mentor and close friend throughout his time at PC.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sophomore Daniel Singh said everyone loves James.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“He’s just someone you’re drawn toward,” Singh said. “He’s
kind and compassionate. After a Friday night out, you come back and James is
there and he’s not tired, he’s not sleeping. He’s up and awake and ready to
talk to you.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">When Reichert gifted James the $3,000 he’d raised for him,
the security guard fell to his knees.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“This was unexpected,” James told the students in a TikTok
video that’s since gone viral. “I don’t know how much I can thank you guys. I
pray from the bottom of my heart and will continue to protect you guys.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The donations haven’t stopped since James received the money
for his trip home. Efforts to help James visit his family are picking up steam,
and the GoFundMe page so far has raised more than $7,000.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“You have parents, cousins, relatives and other people
donating that wouldn’t even know who James is,” Singh said. “It really speaks
to how moving he is and how moving the community can be.”<o:p></o:p></p>PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-708354297133452902024-03-13T10:47:00.002-04:002024-03-13T10:47:21.496-04:00Florida security officer detains murder suspect <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwkA5iTAmTZNPtTQ9ObA-JzaOhYMVbpdH8z-jORgxRKTNBBWDqlhQFcqUQU0C1StDDEn5A85eLrsCp8mD-DH02oZudEtWx2TsRIFsy94HjmwNJF-FIwnVArlOd-0mKHJo68JQAZX64kIdgdBmCPJXCHoMP6qZ-KDdDiLxQ7IUDQKuJiTKs68p-Ob9mDDTZ/s300/Z30.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="168" data-original-width="300" height="168" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwkA5iTAmTZNPtTQ9ObA-JzaOhYMVbpdH8z-jORgxRKTNBBWDqlhQFcqUQU0C1StDDEn5A85eLrsCp8mD-DH02oZudEtWx2TsRIFsy94HjmwNJF-FIwnVArlOd-0mKHJo68JQAZX64kIdgdBmCPJXCHoMP6qZ-KDdDiLxQ7IUDQKuJiTKs68p-Ob9mDDTZ/s1600/Z30.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><b><br /></b><p></p><p><b>FORT MYERS, Fla. <p class="MsoNormal">Fort Myers police were called to El Patron Nightclub at 3639
Palm Beach Boulevard just before 2 a.m., where they discovered a man had been
stabbed. An altercation happened inside the club before a stabbing occurred
outside on the plaza sidewalk, FMPD said.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He was immediately taken to a local hospital but pronounced
dead upon arrival.<o:p></o:p></p>
