Port of Hueneme July 27 2017 A 17-year-old from Oxnard was arrested Monday evening after a disturbance call turned violent near the Port of Hueneme, authorities said.
Authorities were contacted at 6:55 p.m. by the Harbor Master at the Port of Hueneme's front security gate, located at 105 West Port Hueneme Road, about a young male creating a disturbance.
Port Hueneme police officers arrived on the scene to find a security guard on the ground, bleeding from his injuries, police said. The suspect was attempting to attack another security officer who tried to intervene in the previous attack, according to authorities.
The Harbor Master also arrived on the scene in a vehicle. As the Harbor Master drove up, the suspect threw a handheld radio at his vehicle, causing damage to the hood, according to authorities.
Although the suspect was combative with officers initially, police said they were able to take him into custody without incident. Paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the security guard, authorities said.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism, police said. He was booked at juvenile hall.

Anyone with information about the incident may call Sgt. Eric Starna at 986-6530.
