Westminster MD April 21 2017 Two Prince George's County residents are facing theft charges in Carroll after allegedly attempting to steal two televisions with a combined value of more than $2,000 from the Westminster Walmart.
Lynis Nathaniel Ellerbe, 37, and Trentity Nichole Williams, 21, both of the 4000 block of Dallas Drive in Temple Hills, are each charged with one count of theft at least $1,000 but less than $10,000, according to electronic court records.
An officer with the Westminster City Police Department responded to the Westminster Walmart on Tuesday, April 18, for a report of shoplifting. A Walmart employee said two people, later identified as Ellerbe and Williams, attempted to take a 70-inch Vizio TV priced at $1,298 and a 65-inch Samsung TV priced at $798, according to the charging documents.
The employee alleged that Ellerbe and Williams proceeded past all points of sale without paying for the merchandise. When stopped by another employee at the store's exit, Ellerbe and Williams said they did not have a receipt, according to the charging documents.
The employee escorted Ellerbe and Williams to the self-checkout and they said they had to go get money from their vehicle to purchase the televisions. They exited the store and left the area in a green Ford Explorer, according to charging documents.
According to electronic court records, Ellerbe and Williams were arrested some time after the incident. Ellerbe is being held on $5,000 bond at the Carroll County Detention Center. Williams is being held on $2,500 bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.
They are scheduled to appear in court on June 27.
