A police vice investigator has been charged with videotaping an undressed teen girl.
Roy Clyde Sharp III, 40, of the 400 block of Fresh Meadow Road was indicted Wednesday and charged with filming an undressed minor without her consent on Nov. 21, court records show.
Sharp is a corporal in the Vice Narcotics Division and has worked at the Police Department since 2001, city records show.
A special prosecutor, Williamsburg and James City County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nate Green, has been appointed to try the case, Norfolk commonwealth’s attorney spokeswoman Amanda Howie said.
Local prosecutors couldn’t do it because one of their employees could be called as a witness in the case.
Sharp turned himself in to the Police Operations Center where his fellow officers arrested him Wednesday morning. He was given a $2,500 personal recognizance bond and released from custody.

Sharp is on administrative duty pending the outcome of the case, police spokeswoman Cpl. Melinda Wray said Thursday. Police declined to comment further.
