Grand Junction CO April 26 2017 A 26-year-old man accused of hitting a St. Mary’s Hospital security guard in the face Saturday night could be charged with felony assault on an officer.
Jeymar Canales was hospitalized after being taken into protective custody for his “high level of intoxication” by the Grand Junction Police Department, which reported in an arrest affidavit that officers found him after responding to a report that he was throwing rocks at cars near Ridges Boulevard and Ridgeway Court.
The security guard told officers he was helping put Canales in restraints at the hospital, when Canales began struggling and hit him in the face, the report said. Canales also allegedly scratched the man’s arm.
Canales was issued a personal-recognizance bond Monday by Mesa County Judge Craig Henderson.
