Joliet man charged with assaulting hospital security officer

JOLIET, IL April 5 2017— A patient at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center battered a security guard just as he was being discharged from the hospital, police said.
Michael Stamps, 32, was on his way out of St. Joe’s about midnight Friday when he walked toward the information desk in an “aggressive manner” while speaking loudly, police said.
A 24-year-old security guard approached and Stamps pushed him with both hands, police said. Police were summoned and arrested Stamps.

Stamps was later released on his own recognizance.
