New York City NY April 10 2017 Two physicians waiting to go through a security checkpoint at a Kennedy Airport terminal jumped into action when a TSA screener went into cardiac arrest, law enforcement sources said Saturday
Drs. Hiren Parikh and Saraf Sumit Sajjan were waiting to be scanned at Terminal Four when the 47-year-old Transportation Security Administration employee collapsed and started vomiting and gasping for air about 2:40 p.m. Friday, officials said.
As Port Authority cops were called, the doctors began CPR.
Together, they and Port Authority police used a portable defibrillator to shock the victim back to life twice.
The screener was conscious when arriving first responders took him to Jamaica Hospital for further care, officials said.
He is expected to recover, officials said.
Attempts to reach both doctors, who were traveling, were unsuccessful Saturday.
