Richmond VA March 10 2017 The Commonwealth of Virginia has expanded its Cyber Vets Virginia initiative to offer intensive training in cyber-security, and it's free for qualified veterans, transitioning service members and active-duty spouses.
"We currently have 36,000 open cyber jobs in Virginia and our veteran community is well-suited to help close the workforce gap in this growing industry," Gov. Terry McAuliffe said.
But if you want to apply, the clock is ticking.
The state has partnered with the USO along with the SANS Institute, which is offering intensive 8-12 week programs that include technical training and industry certifications.
Graduates have opportunities to link up with leading Virginia cyber-security employers.
SANS will host two VetSuccess Academies in the coming weeks. Applications for the Hampton Roads Academy close March 17. Training begins April 24.
This is a 100 percent scholarship-based program.
