Security Officer Shoots Man Who Tried Taking Weapon During Robbery

HOUSTON TX March 7 2017 – A Houston security officer on duty overnight at a gas station was attacked and his attacker tried taking his weapon during a robbery.
But the suspect picked the wrong gas station after he was shot by the security officer and hit with a stick by an employee of the store.
According to the Houston Police Department, it happened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday at the Valero gas station located in the 8000 block of Lockwood in northeast Houston.
Surveillance video showed that the suspect came up from behind the security officer and attempted to take his gun and a struggle ensued.
The struggle carried the two men outside the front entrance of the gas station into the parking lot.
Then the employee went to aid the security guard and struck the suspect in the head with a stick.
That is when the suspect tried to run and the officer shot the suspect in the leg.
Police are searching the nearby neighborhood for the suspect. It was not clear if the robbery suspect was armed since he tried to take the officer’s gun.
