Patient Dies in Struggle With Hospital Security privateofficer..com

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. March 7 2017
A man died after fighting Monday morning with security at Greenville Memorial Hospital, according to Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans.
Donald Keith Smith, 48, was admitted to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound in the arm, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
At one point Smith became combative, striking hospital security personnel and a struggle ensued, Evans said.
He said Smith became unresponsive and stopped breathing.
Hospital staff members attempted to revive Smith but were unsuccessful, Evans said.
He said an autopsy is scheduled on Tuesday.
“Greenville Health System is cooperating with law enforcement officials in their investigation of an incident that occurred earlier today involving a patient and security officer in the emergency department at Greenville Memorial Hospital. However, due to patient privacy laws, we are unable to provide any information related to this incident.” said Karen Potter, GHS spokesperson.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the incident.
