New York city NY March 5 2017 A visitor to the Met who thought a painting was hanging crookedly decided to fix it himself Friday evening but when confronted by a security officer the man used a bottle of wine he’d smuggled in under his jacket to assault a security guard.
The man then fled the museum as police and EMS personnel arrived on scene.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art security officer identified as Mark Burns, 46, was struck with the bottle and injured.
Burns was taken to Weill-Cornell Hospital with a head laceration.
His attacker has not been arrested and police were checking video to try to identify him.
