Algiers LA Feb 13 2017 An Algiers daiquiri shop's security guard was wounded Saturday night (Feb. 11) when he exchanged gunfire with a would-be armed robber, New Orleans police said.
The shootout at the Daiquiri Place, located at 3707 General DeGaulle Dr., occurred at 10:27 p.m., police said.
Only the 42-year-old security guard was reported wounded, but the NOPD said he was transported to a local hospital in good condition.
Police said the man was at his security post at the shop when an unidentified gunman walked up to the front door demanding money. The gunman fled after shots were exchanged, according to the NOPD.

Update: A state regulator says the wounded guard was not properly certified as an armed guard, and was working for a unlicensed and uninsured security company that ignored a cease-and-desist letter issued last month
