PETERBOROUGH Ontario Canada Feb 9 2017— Two Peterborough residents are facing fraud charges following a Monday afternoon incident at the Lansdowne Street West Walmart.
On Monday (Feb. 6), Peterborough police report that a man and woman walked into Walmart on Lansdowne Street West. Once inside, police say a security guard reported that the pair selected various items off the shelves and then returned the items at the service desk where they fraudulently received gift cards for the items.
Shortly after obtaining the gift cards, police say they went to a food aisle where the man concealed various items under his jacket in the shopping cart. The pair then went through the checkout and police say the man made no attempt to pay for the concealed items. Meanwhile, police say the woman paid for food items with the fraudulent gift cards.
Once outside the store, a security guard placed the pair under arrest. Police say further investigation revealed the man was wanted on a warrant for uttering a forged document stemming from a 2014 incident where the accused fraudulently altered a medical prescription.
Scott Edward Saxby, 32, of Water Street, Peterborough, is charged with theft under $5,000, fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document and failing to comply with probation.

Crystal Dawn Rellinger, 26, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with fraud under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
