Cleveland OH Feb 9 2017 A man dressed in a security guard uniform robbed a Brinks armored car employee Wednesday morning in the city's Lee-Miles neighborhood, authorities say.
The robbery happened about 10 a.m. at the PNC bank branch near the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Lee Road, FBI spokeswoman Vicki Anderson said. The FBI released surveillance images showing the robbery Wednesday evening.
The Brinks employee got out of his armored vehicle in front of the bank and carried a canvas bag filled with cash and ATM servicing tools toward the bank, Anderson said. The masked, armed robber - dressed in a METRO security uniform - approached the Brinks employee from behind and pinned him against the front door of the bank, she said.
The robber held a pistol to the Brinks employee's head and demanded cash, Anderson said. The canvas bag containing the cash and tools was taken.
The masked robber then ran across Harvard Avenue and behind several businesses. He got into the driver's side of a white Ford Fusion on Eldamere Avenue, Anderson said, and drove west toward Lee Road.
According to Cleveland police dispatch records, a caller told police that the armed robber was standing at a bus stop just before the robbery.
No injuries were reported.
