A cashier at the West Monroe Wal-Mart is facing felony theft charges after he reportedly stole more than $20,000 from the corporation.
According to an arrest affidavit for Johnathan Keeling, 31, 122 Debra Lane, officers with the West Monroe Police Department were dispatched in reference to employee theft.
An internal investigation by the retailer showed that a cashier, identified in the affidavit as Keeling, began removing cash from his drawer on Dec. 16. Between Dec. 16 and Jan. 3, Keeling worked 15 shifts.
During those shifts, he removed cash from 30 cash drawers. The total amount missing was recorded as $20,450. Each instance of theft was recorded on security cameras.
He told officers he did take money from the cash drawers but did not know how much, according to the arrest record.
Keeling was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on Thursday on one count of felony theft, taking of greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000.
Bond was set at $7,500.
