SARTELL MN Jan 17 2017 — Sartell police on Saturday arrested a woman found hiding in a barrel on suspicion that she shoplifted from a Walmart.
Police were called to the Walmart on Stearns County Road 120 at about 11 p.m. Saturday for a shoplifting complaint. Before officers arrived, the woman, later identified as Linaya Mathis, 20, left in a vehicle, according to Sgt. Kelly Mader.
Police were familiar with the vehicle and aware that it frequents Shady Oaks mobile home park at 188 County Road 120, Mader reported. Officers went to the park and found the vehicle. When they were pulling up, Mathis fled on foot and was believed to have entered a trailer, according to Mader.
The owner of the trailer arrived and allowed officers to search his trailer. Mathis was not inside. Officers found Mathis about an hour later hiding inside a 55-gallon plastic drum, Mader reported.
Mathis was not dressed for the cold weather and was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation. The shoplifted items were found near where Mathis was hiding, Mader reported. Mathis had four felony warrants for her arrest in Stearns, Benton, Morrison and McLeod counties.

Mathis was later taken to Stearns County Jail, where she was held pending possible charges.
