Rockford man arrested for shooting gun-pointing it at security officers privateofficer.com

Rockford IL Jan 3 2017 On Sunday, January 1, 2017 at approximately 12:38 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Franchesco’s, located at 7128 Spring Creek, in reference to a subject shooting a gun in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers met with Metro Enforcement who had a subject, identified as 24-year-old Mauricio Luna Jr., secured in handcuffs.
Officers learned that Luna was celebrating his birthday and had been denied re-entry after leaving Franchesco’s. Luna retrieved a handgun from a car in the parking lot and fired several rounds in the air. A Metro Enforcement officer approached the vehicle Luna was sitting in and Luna pointed the gun at the officer. The officer removed the gun from Luna’s hand and Luna from the vehicle, and secured the gun until Rockford Police arrived. Nine shell casing were recovered from the parking lot.
Luna was arrested and charged with the following:
Reckless Discharge of Firearm
Aggravated Assault
Violation CCW Law (While Under the Influence of Alcohol)
Luna had a valid FOID and a Concealed Carry License.
No one was injured and no property was damaged during the incident.
