Sunrise FL Jan 24 2017 A Broward County man fought with a bouncer at Goldfinger Gentlemen's Club in Sunrise and died early Sunday after the confrontation, police said.
"A male showed up at Goldfinger's, caused a disturbance, started a physical altercation with a bouncer in the club and went unconscious during the altercation," Sunrise Police Officer Chris Piper said.
The man was Michael T. Johnston, Jr., 33, Piper said. Police did not provide an address for him but records show he has lived in Broward County.
Officers happened to be at a business next door to the club that is at 3801 N. University Dr., and were called by staff, Piper said.
"Police found [Johnston] outside the club, and were led to assist him by bouncers," Piper said.
Sunrise Fire-Rescue took Johnston to Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes, where he was declared dead, according to Piper.
Detectives were still interviewing witnesses Monday and no criminal charges had been filed.
The investigation will likely be sent to the state attorney's office for review, according to Piper.
Leonard Del Percio, a club owner, said he was not able to comment at this time.
