East Baton Rouge LA Dec 27 2016 A Louisiana woman accused of giving birth in a Walmart bathroom and abandoning the baby in a trash can was linked to another child's death in 2009, according to authorities and local media reports.
Kyandrea Thomas, 34, was arrested Saturday and booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Jail, records show.
Authorities said Thomas — who was working as a Salvation Army bell ringer outside a New Roads Walmart — gave birth inside the store's bathroom, then left after dumping the baby in the garbage.
A Walmart employee noticed the newborn, and rescue crews rushed the baby to the hospital, where she was listed in stable but critical condition.
"Anytime an infant is left unattended for the first four hours or so of its life, it's life-threatening, so I feel that the baby probably had minutes to seconds to live," Pointe Coupee Chief Deputy Coroner Joe Gannon told reporters.
Authorities said Kyandrea Thomas gave birth inside a Walmart bathroom, then left after dumping the baby in the garbage.
Thomas previously pleaded guilty to negligent homicide for the 2009 death of a 3-year-old girl who was left inside a day-care company's van for nearly six hours.

The former aide for Wanda's Kids World was given a five-year suspended sentence and ordered to perform 10,000 hours of community service.
She performed at least 100 hours of that service at the Salvation Army, her attorney told the Baton Rouge Advocate in 2011.
