ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. —Dec 27 2016
The holiday weekend was tough for Kentucky State police, as they had to say goodbye to one of their own.
Benita Blanton, 51, was laid to rest over the weekend.
She was a commercial vehicle enforcement inspector for state police.
She died Wednesday in a crash on I-64 in Rowan County, after her car went into an embankment.
Family, friends and state police, along with other agencies, gathered together in Morehead Saturday to remember Blanton.
"We're just like many other families, you know, we all hunker down and get closer at this time," Joe Veeneman, public affairs officer for Kentucky State Police, said.
