Columbus security officer shoots man who ran him down

COLUMBUS OH Dec 11 2016 A security officer was injured and another man was shot and critically injured in a shooting Thursday night in southeast Columbus.
It happened just before 8:30pm in the 5500 block of Tinley Park in Columbus.
Police arrived on scene to find a man, now identified as Christopher A. Wilkes, who had been shot in the upper body by a security officer.
Police say the security guard told them the man attempted to hit him with his car so he fired his weapon to defend himself.
They say it appears right now that the security officer was helping a woman who had been assaulted by Wilkes, when the incident took place.
Wilkes was taken to Grant Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The security officer was also injured and taken to OSU’s Wexner Medical Center in unknown condition. It was not clear how the security officer was injured.

Police are still investigating, and say the security guard is cooperating with them.
