Brentwood TN Dec 13 2016 A former payroll specialist with the Brentwood-based company Century II has been indicted for wire fraud and identity theft.
Kristen Morrison, 44, of Lascassas, Tenn., was indicted on Nov. 30 by a federal grand jury on eight counts of wire fraud and two counts of aggravated identity theft stemming from her time at the company, according to a news release from David Rivera, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee. Century II is a personnel and human resources company based in Brentwood.
According to the indictment, between March 2014 and May 2016, Morrison created direct deposit accounts and pay cards for former and nonexistent employees of Century II's customer, Absolute Wireless. Morrison then used the money for her personal benefit, the release stated.
If convicted, Morrison faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, according to the release. The indictment is also seeking forfeiture of $213,449.91.
The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Henry Leventis.
