Transit security officer shot privateofficer.com



WELLSTON, MO Nov 18 2016 A MetroLink security officer was shot by a light rail rider Thursday afternoon.
The officer was confronting a rider over an unpaid train ticket when the man pulled a gun and fired it striking the transit security officer in the shoulder.
 
The shooting happened at the MetroLink station in the 6400 block of Plymouth.
 A call for an "Officer in need of aid" went out over police radio at around 2 p.m.
Police returned fire and hit the suspect.
St. Louis County Police responded to the shooting. They shot the suspect in the buttocks. Both the suspect and the officer were seen being taken away from the scene in ambulances.
Police say that Metro security approached a rider about an unpaid fair. The rider, a teen or man in his early 20s, and the officer got into an argument. The rider then pulled a gun and shot the officer.

The transit security officer was treated at a local hospital and eventually released.
The wounded suspect was taken into surgery. As of Thursday evening, police have not updated his condition.
Police say that the man will face charges of attempted murder.
