Pot security officer charged with murder

SAN BERNARDINO CA Nov 23 2016  Police arrested a security officer who they say fatally shot a man early Tuesday after the two scuffled in the parking lot of a marijuana dispensary.
“The security officer claimed he was trying to defend himself,” police spokesman Lt. Mike Madden said, adding that there was video footage that the security guard said would supposedly support his self-defense claims.
However, after further review of the video, police allegedly found evidence that didn’t corroborate the security officer’s statement.
The security officer, Lance Drakkar Cobb, 24, of Highland, was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center for suspicion of murder.
He’s being held without bail.
Police were called to a shopping plaza at 2618 E. Foothill Blvd., just after midnight where they found Cobb and Thomas Loftus, 37, of San Bernardino, had gotten into a brief struggle, prior to the shooting.
Loftus reportedly showed up to the dispensary about 15 minutes after it had closed and began acting erratically, asking to speak to the manager, according to Madden.
“There was no manager, and he began to physically attack the security guard,” he said.
During the fight, Cobb pulled his firearm, told Loftus to stop repeatedly, and even fired a couple of rounds before shooting him in the leg, Madden added.
Paramedics took Loftus to a hospital, where he later died.
Madden said the video footage shows Loftus walking away from Cobb when he was shot.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Marco Granado at 909-384-5628 or Sgt. Emil Kokesh at 909-384-5613.
