Portland OR Nov 1 2016 Police paroling the Entertainment District in Old Town arrested a man carrying a loaded gun and wearing GPS ankle monitor from a previous arrest early Sunday.
Marco Antonio Dominguez-Mendoza, 20, is charged with theft in the first degree (by receiving), theft in the first degree, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. He is also being held in the Multnomah County Jail on warrants for unlawful use of a weapon and assault in the fourth degree (domestic violence).
According to police, at 1:27 a.m. on Oct. 30, Central Precinct Entertainment Detail officers in the area of Northwest 3rd Avenue and Burnside Street were alerted by area nightclub security about a man walking in the district with a gun.
Officers spotted the suspect and followed him and the group he was with as they walked through the crowded district in the area of Northwest 3rd Avenue and Couch Street.
Near the edge of the street closures on Burnside, the suspect saw officers and ran towards Southwest Ankeny Alley, where officers were able to take him into custody.
Officers seized a loaded handgun from the suspect and later determined that the gun was reported stolen in Clackamas County. Officers also noted that the suspect was wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time of his arrest.
Police say the Central Precinct Entertainment Detail works collaboratively with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC), Portland Fire & Rescue and bar and nightclub owners, staff and security to provide a safe environment at downtown Portland venues.
