BATON ROUGE LA Nov 19 2016 – Police say three employees at a Baton Rouge grocery store stole more than $25,000 through a return refund scam.
According to arrest records, Baton Rouge police officers were called to the Albertson’s Grocery Store on College Drive Friday in reference to employee theft.
Store management told officers that 19-year-old Jalen Oliver Ray, 22-year-old T Lara Nicole Pitts and a third cashier used false return refunds to steal more than $25,000 from the store.
Police say store security video showed the three employees completing the false returns then pocketing the cash from their cash drawers.
The BRPD Financial Crimes Division contacted Ray and Pitts and transported them to BRPD headquarters. Police say Pitts admitted to scamming the business multiple times over a four-month period. Ray admitted to stealing cash for approximately one month, BRPD said.

Pitts and Ray were charged with felony theft. They were transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
