Virginia woman accused of pouring cleaning liquid into former coworker’s coffee

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. Oct 23 2016— A Virginia woman has been arrested after being accused of trying to poison one of her former coworkers by pouring a cleaning agent in a workplace coffee maker.
Mayda E. Rivera-Juarez, 32, of Sterling, has been charged with felony assault (adulteration of food, drug, with intent), according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident allegedly happened at JAS Forwarding Inc., a freight company, in Sterling.
Investigators said they were called to the workplace on Oct. 13 for complaints that several employees had been ill after a former coworker had poured cleaning chemicals into a coffee maker over several weeks.

Rivera-Juarez was arrested Friday. She is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
