Security officer assaulted during kidnap attempt www.privateofficer.com

Sioux Falls SD Aug 16 2010 A 51-year-old Sioux Falls man is in jail on five charges after police said a verbal attack got out of hand at the Albert House early Wednesday.

A security guard knocked on a door at the North Phillips Avenue hotel just after midnight Wednesday when he heard a woman screaming, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.

The 43-year-old woman who answered the door said her boyfriend, Michael Eugene Coch, had come home intoxicated and began yelling at her. He reportedly threatened her with a kitchen knife, took her cell phone when she tried to call 911, and then forced her to stay in the apartment.

The guard left and called police. Before they arrived, Coch had left. The woman was not injured.

Officers found Coch walking near Sixth Street and Phillips Avenue. When they tried to arrest him, Clemens said, he tried to get away and kicked an officer.
Coch was charged with domestic aggravated assault, simple assault against a law enforcement officer, interference with emergency communications, resisting arrest and kidnapping.
