DURHAM NC April 30 2009 (WTVD) -- A 40-year-old teacher's assistant at Creekside Elementary is charged with having sex with a 10-year-old boy.
Investigators say Gina Marie Watring had intercourse with the child on at least two occasions in April --the first, three weeks ago and a second last Tuesday. Durham officials will not comment about where the incidents happened.
Watring is faces two counts of first-degree sex offense with a student.
Creekside Elementary School is on Ephesus Church Road in south Durham. She was a teacher's assistant in music and dance.
Her name is no longer listed in the school's online directory, but a description of her courses are still laid out for parents to see.
One parent says she's speechless and describes Watring as a nice woman.
School officials say Watring started working at Creekside in November 2006. She is no longer working for the school as of Tuesday.
A source tells Eyewitness News that Watring's cell phone records, including text messages and a computer, are part of an on going investigation.
School officials say they will not release a statement on the matter.
Watring turned herself in to investigators on Wednesday. She is currently in the Durham County Jail. Her bond is set at $100,000.
Watring's first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday morning
