MONROE, La. March 13 2008 -- Police arrested a 21-year-old man dressed in black who entered the University of Louisiana at Monroe library's computer lab wearing a gun on his hip.
Laura Harris, ULM media relation's director, said university police arrived within a few minutes and the suspect was quickly removed.
Police officers questioned the man and placed him into custody.
Although there was an early report that the firearm was determined to be a semiautomatic handgun, university vice president for student affairs Wayne Brumfield described the weapon Wednesday as a BB gun.
Jonathan L. Pope of Holly Ridge was booked Tuesday with carrying a firearm on school property.
